MAGGIE MONK
SCHOOL OF DANCING

Formerly a professional dancer in the West-End and on television, Maggie Monk founded the dance school in Chesham with one class of 9 pupils back in 1984.

Since then, the school has gone from strength to strength and now operates 6 days a week with classes in many different disciplines.

OUR MODERN
HISTORY

In January 2002, Maggie was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, which is a totally debilitating illness with no cure, and in March 2006, Maggie sadly passed away.

The school was taken over by her daughter Natalie and head teacher Fiona who continued to build on Maggie’s success until 2017 when the legacy was passed to former student Georgie Ketteman.

EXAMS and

PERFORMANCES

Exams are taken in the internationally recognised IDTA syllabus and we currently hold a 100% pass rate! Since 2016 we have also offered Graded Contemporary and Street Dance with the iD Company Syllabus.

Pupils also take part in our bi-annual school show, performed at the Elgiva Theatre in Chesham. Every show is completely original and is produced using a professional crew, giving the pupils the chance to experience performing on a big theatre stage under professional conditions and supervision.

There are also various other opportunities to perform locally for all our students. In particular, our Dance Troupe, who rehearse weekly and perform at professional theatres throughout the area.
